Devil's Hopyard

We hiked through a good portion of Devil's Hopyard State Park today. This was the first time I've been there since the fire in March. It was remarkable to see evidence of the fire, to smell the charred wood, and to see new growth already popping up through the cinders. Nature is quick to repair herself.

Really?  It looks harmless enough...
Spider eating a fly.
At the top!
Your roots are showing.
Tiger Swallowtail (female)
Happy hiking! :)

  1. Nice shots. We need to make a trip back out there. I wasn't aware of the fire. How widespread was it?

    1. Hi, Lee! Thanks. The fire spread over 50 acres: http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/middlesex_cty/brush-fire-devils-hopyard-state-park
